Holistic Design: "Warhammer 40,000: Final Liberation"

This was a Computer Games company specializing in strategy games. The work is from 1995 to 1998.

The images below were created for the PC game that we made for Games Workshop; the British Wargaming company. We created the PC game... "Warhammer 40,000: Final Liberation" that was based on their "Epic" series of tabletop miniatures games. All of the work was done in 3D Studio R4. These were the days BEFORE 3D Studio MAX.

This is an actual Unit Sheet for the tan tank in the picture below. Each unit was rendered in several positions so that they could then be used as 2D sprites. The images were cut out and placed in the Unit Sheet. Then each row was modified/painted as needed. 1st row = master tank image, 2nd = treads stopped, 3rd = treads moved for animation cycle, 4th = Destroyed Unit, 5th = Main fire, 6th = secondary fire, and 7th/8th/9th = alternate facings. I modeled, textured, rendered, placed on Unit Sheet, and painted the different states of numerous units.

This is another Unit ID picture. The actual in-game Unit for the tan tank is pictured above this one, and the green tank is pictured below. I modeled this unit, like most of them, based on small 1 inch lead miniatures.

Here is a sample of some tank and building sprites. These are actual in-game pieces that were rendered in 3D and then converted to 2D sprites.
